It’s why a lot of fancharacter designs and fan redesigns of official characters don’t really work, because they give these elaborate, flowing hairstyles to character designs that work best when kept simple, and the result is rather off-putting.Īmy’s official hairstyle for example works because she’s a hedgehog, and so her “hair” is just her natural quills. Most female character designs in the Sonic franchise end up looking very strange and garish when they’re given realistic hairstyles for the sake of making them “beautiful”. It depends on how it looks and what species the character is.
